Ms. Saman Dharmapala serves as the Head of Legal, bringing over 25 years of professional experience in the legal profession. She is responsible for providing strategic legal counsel to the Company, overseeing litigation matters, mitigating legal and reputational risks, and ensuring compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. She also liaises with regulators, external counsel, and industry stakeholders to safeguard the Company’s legal interests.

Throughout her career, Ms. Dharmapala has held several key legal and corporate governance positions across both the public and private sectors. Prior to joining Janashakthi Finance, she practiced as a Private Practitioner and served as Senior Legal Officer at the Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation. She has also held the positions of Legal Officer at the Metro Colombo Urban Development Project (MCUDP) and Company Secretary of both LRDC Services (Pvt) Ltd. and Land Reclamation and Development Ltd.

Ms. Dharmapala possesses extensive expertise in both Civil and Criminal Law. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Colombo, a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), and a Master of Human Resources Management (MHRM) from the University of Colombo. She is also an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka and a Member of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka.

Her professional accomplishments include being recognised as the Best Employee in the Middle Management Category at the Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation. She has also contributed to legal and environmental policy through research on environmental protection legislation, with key findings incorporated into the Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation (Amendment) Act No. 13 of 2021.
